Meet Snaps and Win 1000 Premium moodboard Images

by: LEvans
on: 22 February 2010
category: Heres Us

We would like to introduce you to Snaps. He’s a fully fledged member of the moodboard team and quite the celebrity in our office due to his jet set lifestyle and party loving personality. He loves the camera and throughout his travels with moodboard, has already been photographed in many envied destinations.

He puts a whole new meaning to the term high-flyer. Forget first class. Snaps likes to ride along side the pilot.

Unfortunately recently he has got a case of the winter blues and is looking for a new adventure. This is where you come in. We will send you your own Snaps for free if you take his photo in the most random of place or in the most creative setting. The more unusual the better. We need to get Snaps back to his good old self as the team here at moodboard needs him.

The best photo will win 1000 free images sent to you on 10VCDs, and will be featured in our blog.

Come on; help us give this little fella a new lease of life. It will cost you nothing and you might end up with thousands of pounds worth of free images. The winner will be announced in July so you have plenty of time to take him on any upcoming trips or holidays.

Please email me at lauren.evans@moodboard.com to register your interest and receive your free Snaps doll.

Once received send up to three photos to my email to enter. Also upload the images to our Facebook page by tagging us. Click the icon below to become our friend and see some of Snaps previous escapades for inspiration.

Tough Guy 2010

by: RWatson
on: 4 February 2010
category: Heres Us

Moodboard’s Russell Watson with friends Paul Towse and James Threasher completed the assault course in around 3 hours!  "We turned up and it was snowing, we all thought 'This will be easy', how wrong we were, as we then found out!".

Tough Guy; The Worlds safest, most dangerous taste of mental and physical pain, fear and endurance.

Eight miles of mud, barbed wire, sub zero lakes, broken shards of ice and fire walks...

More than 5000 people from around the globe started the competition based in South Staffordshire on Sunday 31st January.

This competition sees people stretched to their physical boundaries as they clamber over nets, walls and even an electrified fence dubbed 'The Tiger'.

Russell said “Its cold, the water was so cold! So happy I've done it now tho!”
Paul commented “When I think about it now though I just keep thinking "How?" because I have never been that cold in my LIFE!!”

Smiling but secretly thinking "What am I doing here?"

This is just one of the 27 obstacles in "The Killing Fields"

As you can see, the water was pretty cold here, and I was nearing so close to the finish

Congratulations to everyone that ran on the day!

The Joys of Christmas Shopping

by: LEvans
on: 7 December 2009
category: Heres Us

Christmas shopping can be an overwhelming experience. It all gets very primal out there on the high street. I have witnessed many a struggle to get the last item on the shelf, not much different to documentaries on the discovery channel showing animals fighting over the last scraps of food. This stressful experience has turned many a high street lover to the internet.

Shopping on the internet has increased the ease of shopping dramatically. No traipsing to the next shop which always ends up being at the other end of the high street, instead it's simply a click of the mouse away. The only downside is the fact that you can't see exactly what the product will look like in real life and the thought of returning and replacing it before Christmas day is practically unthinkable. This leads me to how photography is becoming vitally important in online shopping decisions. Shops have to compete on how well a product is photographed for online use as well as how it is displayed on the shelf. Marks and Spencer’s Food advertisements are a good example of how images can tempt buyers. Their advertisements literally got the viewers mouth watering looking at their ‘melt in your mouth chocolate fondant’. This clever imagery had the orders pouring in for M&S food. This doesn’t only work for food. Every product needs to look as appealing as possible. The photographer is now under a lot of pressure to do so. Not only does the light, background, size, and angle have to be captured to perfection, the image needs to reflect a positive experience. It's not simply about what functions are displayed but how it can better your life. The background, model and pose can say a lot about how the product will make you feel and this will also influence the buyer. Furthermore the image needs to stand out from the other 100 products listed on the page, as a hundred products can be scanned in seconds. Online the buyer uses the image alone to determine whether the product is good enough to buy. There is no help from the store staff and no functional testing. A well captured and detailed photo of the image is critical to the sale of the product. Happy Christmas photographers, looks like its going to be a busy one.

Moodboard's unlucky football defeat by Alamy

by: craigr
on: 20 November 2009
category: Heres Us

Moodboard took on the mighty Alamy in a football match last night, in London’s Shoreditch area. Shoreditch, usually well known for its trendy bars and band hangouts, had to make way for us stock photography buffs, in what can only be described as the game of the century. Erm well not quite but it was a good effort. It was very close until the second half when Alamy scored a couple of goals in the last 10 minutes making the result 15-12 to the Alamy boys. Moodboard took it on the chin (until next time) and honoured their promise of loser shouts food and drinks.

We headed down to the vibrant array of curry houses on Brick Lane and were easily lured in by a very enthusiastic curry house promoter with a promise of three free rounds of beer, a bottle of wine and a large discount. SOLD!!!! After a full belly and a few too many drinks we all found our way home. Well the moodboarders did, the Alamy boys missed their train and had to endure more beers. Oh the pain.

We will look forward the rematch Alamy.
